A New School Year!
Professional Development: 2009 –2010
Welcome Back!
Thanks to your input and Professional Development Committee, this school year promises to be very exciting! Professional Development activities will be building-based allowing time for expanding your knowledge and completing the work we began in the areas of Professional Learning Communities, Differentiating Instruction, Response to Intervention and Common Assessments to name just a few.
Someone once asked, “What was the last thing you did for the very first time? We hope that when you complete your professional development days on August 26th & 27th you will have answered that question. What unfolds during your time together will be shaped by what each of you brings – ideas, questions, talents, knowledge and energy.
The mission of Barrington’s professional development program continues to provide teachers and support staff with opportunities to expand their knowledge, change their perspectives, and examine their assumptions through self-reflection. Our goal is to provide a culture within our schools for faculty and staff to experiment with varied teaching strategies and methodologies that will improve student learning.
On August 25th, Superintendent, Dr. Robert O. McIntyre will welcome the staff followed by NEAB/Best Meetings and the remainder of the day will be spent at the individual buildings. Professional Development days for 2009 – 2010 will begin on Wednesday, August 26th and August 27th. All professional development days are scheduled from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. On September 28th, building level proposals will continue.
It is my sincere wish that the coming school year holds great experiences, happy memories and much success by doing “Whatever it Takes”.
Dr. Betty A. Calise, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction
