Professional Development:   2010 –2011

Welcome Back to an Exciting Year!

This school year’s Professional Development activities promises to be the most exciting ever!  There will be a variety of PD activities to choose from and also time for Collaborative Teams to work on their SMART Goals. Teachers will learn how to use our new  Student Information System, X2.  We are looking forward to extended technology opportunities to understand and perfect our use of NWEA, Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) results to incorporating “CLICKERS” in your classroom.  We will continue on our Professional Learning Community Journey as we strive for Extraordinary. Graduate Courses in Differentiating Instruction I & II, Response to Intervention and Common Assessments to name just a few. What unfolds during our time together will be shaped by what each of you brings – ideas, questions, talents, knowledge and energy.

The mission of Barrington’s professional development program continues to provide teachers and support staff with opportunities to expand their knowledge, change their perspectives, and examine their assumptions through self-reflection. Our goal is to provide a culture within our schools for faculty and staff to experiment with varied teaching strategies and methodologies that will improve student learning.

On August 24th, at 8:15 A.M., Superintendent, Dr. Robert O. McIntyre will welcome the staff followed by NEAB/Best Meetings and the remainder of the day will be spent at the individual buildings.

Professional Development days for 2010 – 2011 will begin on Wednesday, August 25th and Thursday, August 26th.  Please note that all professional development days are scheduled from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.  On September 14 th, participants will have a choice of attending two workshops (morning and afternoon) of your choice.  Register early so you won’t be disappointed.  On-line Registration will begin on Monday, August 30th and end on September 1st.

It is my sincere wish that 2011 holds great experiences, happy memories and much success by doing “Whatever it Takes”.
