💡🏛HMS STUDENT COUNCIL VISITS THE STATE HOUSE:
Rhode Island State Representative Jason Knight - State Representative, District 67, Warren and Barrington hosted members of the Hampden Meadows Elementary School Student Council at the State House yesterday!
Students received a tour of the building and participated in a mock legislative session where they debated bills like political leaders and learned about how laws are made.

The Barrington High School Class of 2024 began their senior year with sunrise at Victory Field and, yesterday, ended their senior year with sunset at Barrington Beach!
The countdown to graduation is on and we can't wait to celebrate our seniors over the next few days! 🎓
🐋🌎DEEPER LEARNING ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY:
Did you know June 5 is World Environment Day, which encourages awareness and action for environmental protection?
Barrington High School students in Ms. O'Donnell's AP environmental science class have been learning about the effects of climate change and environmental pollution. Last week, thanks to a NASA Rhode Island Space Grant award, they had the opportunity to visit the Blackstone River in Lincoln to engage in deeper learning about environmental protections in Rhode Island! 🌊
Students helped the Blackstone River Watershed Council/Friends of the Blackstone plant willow trees along the banks of the river as bioremediation to fight toxic soil pollution. They also used dip nets to find macroinvertebrates, which are biological indicators that can help determine water quality.
⚖️🌸BMS GRADE 8 VISITS WASHINGTON, D.C.:
We see some familiar faces on the steps of the U.S. Capitol!
Barrington Middle School eighth graders recently returned from their class trip to Washington, D.C. They explored museums and other landmark locations in the nation's capital and learned about how the United States and its government operate.
🤖⭐️R2-D2 RETURNS TO SOWAMS SCHOOL FOR SECOND YEAR:
Third graders at Sowams School recently got into the Star Wars spirit with a visit from R2-D2!
The life-sized Droid was built and programmed by Joe Francazio. Joe shared with third grade students his process for designing, engineering, and building R2-D2 and students learned about real-world applications for math and coding.
Thank you, Joe, for bringing a galaxy far, far away to our Barrington classrooms! This visit was made possible thanks to the Sowams School PTO.
🎉🏅HAMPDEN MEADOWS CELEBRATES LIGHTHOUSE AWARD:
There was much to celebrate when Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence recognized Hampden Meadows Elementary School as a Lighthouse School earlier this month! Even Paws joined in on the blue ribbon celebration! 🐯💙
🧪🧫BHS STUDENTS HEAD TO NATIONAL SCIENCE OLYMPIAD:
Members of Barrington High School's Science Olympiad team recently competed at the Science Olympiad National Tournament at Michigan State University!

🤝💙💛 BMS BEST BUDDIES UNITY WALK:
For the second year, the entire Barrington Middle School community participated in the now-annual Best Buddies Unity Walk!
The Unity Walk began last year as a celebration of inclusion inspired by the Best Buddies Friendship Walk held at Providence College.

👟🏆BHS BOYS TRACK & FIELD TEAM WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP:
It’s a great day to be a Barrington Eagle! 🦅
For the first time in a century, the Barrington High School boys outdoor track & field team won the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Track & Field State Championship today!
Team members Ethan and Patrick brought home three individual championship titles in the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and long jump. Overall, fourteen BHS student athletes earned All-State honors!
Congratulations to our student athletes and coaches on this exciting end to the spring outdoor track season. 🎉

🏐☀️HAMPDEN MEADOWS GAGA BALL PIT:
It's a great day for gaga ball! Thanks to the hard work of two students and the support and generosity of our community, there is now a gaga ball pit at Hampden Meadows Elementary School for all to enjoy!
BPS students and Barrington Girl Scout Troop members, Eme and Alexandra, have been working to make this gaga ball pit a reality for most of the school year to earn their Girl Scout Silver Award. 🎉
🏃👟OUTDOOR TRACK TEAM WINS CHAMPIONSHIP:
It has been a great season for the Barrington High School boys outdoor track & field team! Last weekend, they won the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Class B Championship held at West Warwick High School!

🥍🧡💙GIRLS LACROSSE GAME DEDICATED TO MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS:
Last night, the Barrington High School girls lacrosse team played their last home game of the season on Victory Field with a special dedication to Morgan's Message in support of mental health awareness in the student-athlete community. 🦋
🏅🏛 BHS STUDENT RECEIVES LEADERSHIP AWARD:
Congratulations to Barrington High School student, Emma, for receiving the 2024 Rhode Island Young Leader Award! This award recognizes Emma's high academic achievement, commitment to community service, and entrepreneurial spirit. Rhode Island General Treasurer, James Diossa, recently presented Emma and other students from local high schools with this award during a ceremony at the Rhode Island State House.

🎨🎉BHS STUDENT SELECTED FOR CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION:
Congratulations to Barrington High School artist, Vivian, for winning the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Rhode Island's First Congressional District!
Vivian's painting, titled "Burnout," will hang at the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, DC, for the next year and she and her family will attend the celebratory opening in June.
🌊⛵️BHS SAILING TEAM COMPETES IN CHICAGO:
Over the weekend, the Barrington High School sailing team competed at the National Invitational Tournament in Chicago, Illinois, for the first time in the team's history and placed 7th overall. Way to go, Eagles! 🦀
🥇🐯TOUGH TIGER 2024:
Hundreds turned out to participate in this year's Hampden Meadows Elementary School Tough Tiger race yesterday!
The 1.5 mile Tough Tiger course featured more than a dozen obstacles for participants to race through including cargo nets, a mud pit, and a "car wash" near the finish line. This year's Tough Tiger also featured an adaptive course that catered to a range of abilities and levels.
We are already looking forward to Tough Tiger 2025! 🌞🏆

🌼🌷🌸AP STUDENTS' ARTWORK BLOOMS AT THE BPL:
If you visited the Barrington Public Library late last month, you may have seen artwork created by students in Ms. Lindenberg's Advanced Placement art class!
The show "Art in Bloom," a collaboration between the Barrington Garden Club and Barrington High School, featured floral arrangements paired with student paintings.

🎾TENNIS DOUBLES TEAM WINS STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AGAIN:
Congratulations to our Barrington High School student athletes, Gabe and Bryce, on their repeat win as Rhode Island Interscholastic League tennis doubles state champions!
They are the first doubles team to win back-to-back state championships since 2002.
Way to go, Gabe and Bryce! 🎖👏
🏀🏆UNIFIED BASKETBALL TEAM WINS CHAMPIONSHIP:
On Saturday, May 11, the Barrington High School unified basketball team became state champions after winning the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Division Five Unified Basketball Championship!
Congratulations to our student athletes and coaches! What an awesome way to end the basketball season!
