BMS Celebrates! As mentioned above, each morning our students watch the BMS Morning Show. Similar to last year, this year we will have an ongoing segment called “BMS Celebrates”. This segment provides our students with an opportunity to share with their learning community different religious holidays and days of recognition. If your child would like to come on the morning show to share information about any of our September events/holidays, please complete and add your child’s name to the form below. Mr. Altieri (TV Studio Director) will be in contact with your child to work out further details. |
Throughout the week of September 18, 2023, BMS students and staff members are encouraged to perform random acts of kindness and say hi to people you may have never interacted with throughout our BMS learning community.

BPS Volunteer BCI Drop-In Events: If you are interested in volunteering in the Barrington Public Schools, there will be two opportunities to apply for a BCI check held at Barrington Middle School. No registration required, just come! Wednesday, Sept. 6th 9-10am Wednesday, Sept. 13th 9-10am |
BMS Picture Day: BMS Picture Day is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Order forms are available in cluster teacher classrooms or the front office. Online orders are welcome at coffeepond.com. |
Save the Date: Learn About the Future of Barrington Schools: The Barrington School Building Committee is hosting a series of community meetings in preparation for Stage II of its Necessity of School Construction application. Each meeting will include a short presentation and community discussion. This is an opportunity for you to learn about the future of school construction projects in Barrington that address the District's facilities needs.
These events are open to all Barrington community members. You are encouraged to attend the meeting date that best fits your schedule. For those unable to attend in person, all meetings will be livestreamed and recordings will be made available to watch on replay. |

Robotics 2023-2024 Season is Starting Now: There will be a Robotics Info Meeting on September 6th from 3:30-4:30 in room 3225, all students interested in trying out for the team need to attend. Tryouts will be Sept. 11 & Sept. 12 from 3:30-5:30, a signup genius will be sent out to students for them to sign up for a tryout spot after the robotics info meeting. Please email Ms. Cotnoir at Cotnoirm@barringtonschools.org if you plan on attending the meeting on Sept. 6. |
BMS Cross Country and BMS Field Hockey Startup News: There will be a required family meeting for all students interested in playing either Field Hockey or Cross Country on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 in the BMS Auditorium starting at 6:00 pm. There will be an initial welcome, details on how to register your student and information on practices and equipment. Both seasons run for approximately 8 weeks and practices are daily from 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm during the season which runs from about the second week in Sept to the end of October. Registration paperwork is mandatory and may be found at this link (note this is the same link as high school sports’ registration.) |
Investment Club: The first meeting will take place on Monday, September 18 in room 1202 at 7:45am. All students are welcome to come and learn how to invest and make money. Sign-up Link. |
BMS Fall Tennis: BMS Fall tennis will be starting the week of Monday, September 11th. All abilities and grade levels may sign up for any day Monday-Wednesday (but please limit your student's sign up to one day per week). We will be offering six weeks of tennis and each week will focus on a different set of skills culminating in some games between classmates. There is no cost to participate! There will be a new sign-up sheet in the Connected Newsletter each week so keep an eye out for that. Please reach out to Riley Spillane (spillaner@barringtonschools.org) with any questions. This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on the Blue Cluster Team. They held a unified cluster meeting to review expectations with all students together. Their approach allowed for consistent messaging as well as community building for all of their students on their first day as 7th graders. Great work Blue Cluster! This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on our amazing BMS Students who assisted with Locker Night and our First Day of School. These students provided our new 6th graders with a smile and a helping hand. YMCA Clubs: The Barrington YMCA is offering two clubs starting soon! Call 401-245-2444 for more information. The Dungeons and Dragons club will meet on Friday evenings from 5:00 to 6:15 pm starting on Friday, September 8, 2023 to Friday, October 27, 2023. Magic the Gathering club will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:15 to 7:00 pm starting on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 to October 24, 2023. |
Barrington Youth Basketball Association: REGISTRATION OPEN! Visit www.bybahoops.com to REGISTER! The Recreational League Program allows youth who are both new to the game and experienced and are interested in learning the fundamentals, to continue to learn new skills, while participating in a fun atmosphere. This commitment is optimal for families who travel on weekends during the winter months, but whose child is still interested in playing the sport of basketball. Playing time will be equal among all players. The season will begin November 27th and end with a tournament on February 17 th . Divisions in the recreational league program will be divided by grades (3/4), (5/6), (7/8). Each team will have a one hour practice during the week and a game on Saturday. **Early Bird Special $25 OFF if register before September 15 th ** The Competitive Travel Program provides an opportunity for players in Grades 3-8 that have experience playing basketball, advanced skills, and are seeking an opportunity to play in a highly competitive league. Players and families must be willing to make an increased time commitment for practice and games. TRYOUTS are scheduled for the weeks of September 18th and 25th with two sessions per grade. Attendance at both tryout dates is strongly encouraged, and a third date may be offered if there are extenuating circumstances. A tryout schedule is posted on the league website. There will be a $40 fee to register for tryouts, if your child does not make the team, it will be refunded. The season begins the week before Thanksgiving and runs until mid-March. All teams will play in post-season tournament. Players are required to participate in 70% of Recreational League practices. An exception will be made for players on the Middle School Team. Registration for this league includes the Recreational League Fee! Must register before September 16 th to be eligible for tryouts! **Scholarships are available upon request** Coaching Opportunities Available! Please register on the league website for consideration! |
