Message from Nurse Maddy:

Health and Safety Notice: Aerosol Spray

I would like to inform our BMS Learning Community about the use of Aerosol Sprays in the building.  Here at BMS we are dedicated to maintaining the health and wellness of everyone in the building.

It is very important not to spray any type of aerosol anywhere in the building. Like perfumes, colognes, spray hand sanitizer or any type of aerosol. The aerosol causes inflammation in the lungs that could potentially affect someone’s respiratory airway. Aerosol mist can trigger a range of respiratory conditions,  including asthma attacks or other respiratory reactions which can be serious or life threatening.

Please help us by ensuring that all staff and students refrain from spraying any aerosol in the building.  If anyone has any questions please reach out to Administration or School Nurse.

Kindly,

Nurse Maddy

2023-2024 Student Panorama Survey:

We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. BPS values input from our community – and we need to hear from your child or children! Students are essential partners as we work to improve our communication, academic program, and overall experience for everyone.

To learn more about student experiences at school, we will ask for your child’s feedback via an online survey they will be completing during the weeks of 12/4-12/15.  We will also ask your child to reflect on their mindsets and approaches to learning. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20-30 minutes to complete.

The survey content will ask students to self-reflect on their Emotion-Regulation, Growth Mindset, Social Awareness, Sense of Belonging, Teacher-Student Relationship, and School Climate.

We are partnering with Panorama Education to support us in administering these surveys. We ask that all of our students in grades 6-8 participate in the survey, as their feedback will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we  can improve and adapt our district to their needs. If students don’t feel they have enough information to answer a question, they can skip the item altogether.

Please notify us if you would like your child to opt out of taking the surveys by completing this Panorama Survey Opt-Out form by December 1, 2023.  If you have any questions about the survey administration, please don’t hesitate to contact Dr. Anderson at 401-247-3160 or andersona@barringtonschools.org.

BMS All-In Club:

Please consider joining the All-In-Club in attending an upcoming Providence Bruins game on January 21, 2024 at 3:05 pm.

Providence Bruins

The All-In Club will work to organize all inclusive events that parents, staff and students are welcome to attend. Parents are required to provide transportation, expense of the event and supervision of children attending. Under no circumstances are children allowed to be dropped off and left unattended. These are created to be family fun events that like-minded individuals can share with others from the BMS community.

BMS Community Service Club:

Since Christmas is coming up, we are thinking of others!  This year, we want to make less fortunate children happy! Therefore, we are holding a “Toys-For-Tots” drive, where we are partnering with the Best Buddies at BMS and the Barrington Police.. Toys-For-Tots is a program that is run all around the United States, where they distribute toys to less fortunate families.

We are encouraging people to donate new toys; everything makes a difference. The donations start on November 27th and end on December 15th. Here is the grade distribution:

8th- Sports (Football, Jump Rope, balls, etc…) and Games (Board Games).

7th and 6th- Under-age games (such as Twister, etc…), dolls (Barbie, L.O.L. Dolls, etc…), cars, and art supplies.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, we appreciate it!

~ BMS Spotlight on Learning ~

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Armstrong. Ms. Armstrong goes above and beyond to ensure that all students are included and participating at their ability levels. Her love of music is seen in her classroom and is shared with her students! (Nominated by a member of our BMS Learning Community)

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Grace Perkins. The All-In-Club attended the Christmas Carol at Trinity Rep where Grace Perkins played the role of Martha Cratchit. Outstanding performance by all! (Nominated by a member of our BMS Learning Community)

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Tessa Rigamonti, Blakely Hendricks, Naima Basse. These three amazing artists competed in the Barrington Lions Club Poster Contest this Fall. This year's topic was "Dare to Dream." These students created beautiful posters to visually reflect this topic and won first, second and third place. Tessa Rigamonti's first place poster has moved on to compete in the State's Lions Club poster competition. Best of luck to her to potentially win first place and have her poster move on to the national level. We commend these students on taking their own time to create beautiful art! (Nominated by Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Salter)

Do you know of a BMS Faculty/Staff/Student member that is shining bright? If you do, please complete the form below and we can include the nomination in an upcoming newsletter.
