BMS Spotlight on Learning

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Stephanie Nary. This past Friday, we had our annual Career Day for our 8th grade students. Mrs. Nary worked tirelessly over the past several months to coordinate and plan a special event for our 8th graders. Students had the opportunity to attend various workshops on possible career opportunities. Thank you Stephanie for planning such an amazing day!

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mr. Peter McFarland. This teacher has been supportive all year of me and even provides encouraging messages. He has a good and funny way of teaching that really gets the material to stick in your head. (Nominated by Aqua Student, Nathan Henson)

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Barbara Nozaki. BMS Best Buddies Basketball has been a wonderful opportunity for my son. He really seems to be enjoying it! Barbara made it happen and dedicated her time to provide this fun activity. Thank you Barbara!

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Melanie Roy. Mrs. Roy is one of the greatest teachers I’ve ever met. She is truly an inspiration, and so dedicated to all her students. She is always looking for new and creative ways to enhance the school, especially this year, by giving a few eighth-grade students the opportunity to build the school social media presence. The media center is so much more than a physical space, and she fills it with passion and kindness. She gave us the tools and space to truly show how #bmsshines, and she deserves the spotlight she always shines on everyone else. (Nominated by Student, Kendal Bazerman)

Do you know of a BMS Faculty/Staff/Student member that is shining bright! If you do, please complete the form below and we can include the nomination in an upcoming newsletter.

BMS Spotlight Nomination

PTO Meeting:

Our Next PTO Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 7:00 pm. At this particular PTO meeting we will be voting on the board for the 2021 - 2022 academic school year.

Traffic Pattern Update:

Please see the link below regarding an update to our BMS AM and PM traffic pattern. As previously indicated, new traffic patterns will begin on Wednesday, June 9, 2021.

BMS Traffic Pattern Update

We are also asking our students when they ride/walk to school from Middle Highway or Lincoln Ave to follow the sidewalks onto campus and not cross the driveways. This will greatly reduce the need to stop the flow of traffic.

Early Dismissal:

As of late, we have noticed an increase of early dismissals. We are hearing that some parents are dismissing early to avoid traffic. We are hopeful with the above mentioned traffic pattern, this will reduce the traffic at the end of the day. If it can be avoided, we do ask that you wait for the school day to end or dismiss prior to 2:30 pm.

If it can not be avoided, please be mindful of the following:

  • Please send your student to the main office in the morning with a note indicating the dismissal time and who will be picking up.

  • Please ring the buzzer at the main office, await directions and have an id ready.

  • Please do not follow a student line into the building.

  • If you see your child outside, please do not get your child from the line.

  • All dismissals prior to the end of the day, have to be vetted by the main office.
