Week of 9.13.2021

First Week of School Recap: 

Last week was an amazing first week of school. It was so good to see our students and teachers. There was a great deal of positive energy in the building, and students were excited to dive into learning. Below are a few items that we think would be helpful to make this week even better: 

• Please drop your child off beginning at 8:20 am. For safety purposes, it is important to note that there is no supervision prior to 8:20 am. 

• If your child does bike to school, it is important that they wear a helmet at all times. It is the law to wear a helmet. 

• We find it helpful that students have a pick-up plan at the end of the day. Knowing where an awaiting car will be can help traffic flow much easier. 

• We do have extra masks at the door, but it is helpful that students remember to take their masks prior to leaving for home. 

#BMSReads Independent Reading at BMS:

This year, our BMS Learning Community is embracing independent reading and developing/supporting a love of reading. Each student will be required to have an independent reading book at all times. When students have finished their book, they will be completing a book form and reporting out on what they have read. We do encourage you to frequently check-in with your child with their current independent reading book. Please stay tuned for more information regarding #BMSReads. 

#BMSReads Independent Reading Volunteers: 

BMS is looking for family volunteers to conduct book talks or literature circles every Friday during FAST (6th Grade FAST time 12:14 - 1:29; 7th/8th Grade FAST time: 2:25 - 3:15 ) via Zoom. Once students have completed their independent reading book, they will sign up for a book talk/literature circle. If you are interested in being an independent reading volunteer, please reach out to Anita DiMatteo at dimatteoa@barringtonschools.org.  

BMS Daily Announcements: 

A frequent question we are asked is how to be informed about what is happening at BMS. Linked below you will find our BMS Daily Announcements. Each day our announcements are read over the loudspeaker. Eventually, these announcements will be made over our morning TV show. Please follow along with these announcements at home.

Clubs and Activities: 

We are excited to announce that this year, we will be having clubs and activities! This week, our club advisors will be meeting and sharing with you a calendar of meeting dates and contact information. Please stay tuned. BMS has a lot of opportunities to be involved.

School Pictures:

School pictures are hopefully happening this year!  They will be held on Wednesday, September 29 (usually in the morning).  A quick ordering guide may be found here.  Online ordering is preferred, however, paper order forms are available in the front office.  For the Coffee Pond’s COVID protocols, please click here.

Open House (Virtual): 

This year, we are excited to announce that we will be having our virtual open house from 5:50 pm to 8:00 pm scheduled for Thursday, September 30, 2021. Please stay tuned for more information.
