BMS Spotlight on Learning! This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on our BMS Mathcounts Team! BMS Mathcounts Team took First Place at the State Competition. Great work Coach Orrall and all of our math team members! This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Stephanie Bannon. Mrs. Bannon is a down-to-earth teacher and shows all her students what the true meaning of life is. I want to shine the spotlight on her this week for all her hard work and dedication to the BMS community. This spotlight will be well deserved!! (Nominated by a member of our BMS Faculty/Staff). This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Diane Collins. She has helped our cluster as a whole greatly. She makes me feel confident in math and her teaching style really caters to everyone and she just makes learning math simple and fun. (Nominated by Purple Cluster Student, Zach Aubin). This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Diana Ouellette. Mrs. Ouellette is an amazing teacher. I used to hate writing but Mrs. Ouellette makes it fun and enjoyable while still teaching me everything I need to know in order to succeed. I love Mrs. Ouellette and enjoy her class so much! (Nominated by Lime Cluster Student, Leela Kamat). This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on our BPS Best Buddies Community. This past weekend, we had nearly 50 members of our BPS Best Buddies community participate in the Best Buddies walk at Providence College. Great work Best Buddies! BMS Eagle Challenge: Last week, your child had an opportunity to take the Eagle Challenge pledge during lunch. Students who took the pledge are committing to be champions of diversity, inclusion, and kindness. It is not too late to take the pledge, students can stop by the School Counseling Office to sign their name. Please see our BMS Eagle Challenge program linked below. 8th Grade End of Year Field Trip Information Night: On Tuesday, April 12, 2022 we would like to invite our 8th grade parents/guardians to an information night regarding our annual 8th Grade Field Trip. At this meeting we will be reviewing very important information regarding the trip. The meeting will be from 7:00pm - 8:00pm in the BMS Student Union. A zoom link will be provided for families wishing to attend virtually. | ||||||||||

A note from the Student Assistance Counselor: Last month, I hosted "Stomp Out Smoking" week, where students were exposed to educational activities about the dangers of smoking cigarettes and vaping as well as the manipulative strategies big tobacco used to target teens. The week concluded with students being asked to write down why they choose not to smoke cigarettes or vape. Answers were collected and included in a display (pictured below) to inspire other students to make healthy choices. Way to go BMS! | ||||||||||
National Honor Society Tutors: Barrington High School NHS Peer-tutoring is available to Middle School students! No sign-up in advance is required, they can just show up. 5:30 to 7:30 at the Public Library. | ||||||||||
BMS Family Book Club - all are welcome! How to Win a Slime War Family Book Club Thursday, May 12, 2022, 6:30 PM in the BMS First Floor Breakout Area How to Participate: Sign up for a copy of the book and read in advance. Then join Dr. Fernandes, Mrs. Ridlon, and Mrs. Roy on Thursday, May 12th at 6:30 PM in the Sixth-Grade Breakout area to discuss the 2022 Kids Read Across Rhode Island title. You can even bring your own slime using recipes from the book for a slime contest of our own(optional, of course)! | ||||||||||

Routine Dental Screening on April 7, 2022 Attention 8th Grade Families; Dr. Theodore Drummond D.M.D., dentist for the Barrington Public Schools, will be conducting our yearly dental screening at BMS on 04/07/22, as required by the Rhode Island Rules and Regulations for School Health Programs. If your child receives routine dental care from a private dentist, your child does not need to participate in the dental screening, however you must submit the dentist name and date of examination on this form to decline the screening. COVID-19 protocols will be followed to ensure safety during screenings. This musical revue will cover scenes and songs from Tony Award winning shows like Les Miserables, Hamilton & Newsies – and a few surprises! Don’t miss the students of BMS in this magical production! ~Spring Assessment~ Information | ||||||||||
Test Preparation: This is a friendly reminder to our families to make sure your child is charging the computers the day before they are scheduled to take RICAS. Also, if you notice your child’s computer is broken please have them stop by the library.
RICAS and NGSA Assessment Information: Please see RICAS/NGSA information and testing schedule below. *There is a minor change in the schedule. The testing window will begin at 9:00. It is important that students are in their homerooms by 8:40 am.
