BMS Spotlight on Learning This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Dail Bienkiewicz and the Middle School/High School Marching Band! On Monday, the students proudly marched the parade route playing their hearts out. Well done Mrs. B and all of the students! This week, we would also like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Dr. Anderson for being an enthusiastic supporter of our BHS/BMS marching band at the Barrington Memorial Day Parade. Dr. A probably walked twice the distance of the parade, running back and forth among the musicians, keeping them cool! This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Stephanie Nary. The transition to middle school is not always easy. We appreciate Mrs. Nary making the transition a bit easier for our student. She provided a safe space for our student to chat and process their day. Thank you! (Nominated by a 6th Grade Parent). This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Jamie Poirier. Jaime goes above and beyond for every single student. She works late evenings and holidays. She is there for her students and wants to see them succeed. (Nominated by a 7th Grade Parent) This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Lukens. Mrs. Lukens is so nice and always helps everybody with work. (Nominated by an 8th Grade Student) This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mr. Alteiri. He is everyone's favorite person. Thank you for starting our Morning Show for everyone. (Nominated by an 8th Grade Student) This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Mrs. Taglione. Mrs. Taglione always motivates us to work hard. She makes classes fun and interesting. She has taught us a lot over the school year, and she deserves to be recognized. (Nominated by 6th Grade Student, Kate Tracey). This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on all of the students, parents, and community members who helped create and plant the BMS Community Garden. Thanks to the generous support of the Barrington Education Foundation, students from across the school helped lay landscape fabric, erect the fence, spread mulch, soil, and compost, and plant the raised beds. We couldn't have done it without everyone's help! BMS Spotlight on Learning! Do you know of a BMS Faculty/Staff/Student member that is shining bright? If you do, please complete the form below and we can include the nomination in an upcoming newsletter.

Empty Bowls Event on Thursday, June 2, 2022: BMS Art Department is proud to host an Empty Bowls Event on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 6-7 pm. Art students have made ceramic bowls throughout the year as a reminder of the many empty bowls that exist in households around the world as many families fight hunger. For a suggested donation of $5, beautiful handmade ceramic bowls will be given to you as you enjoy soup generously donated by Blount Fine Foods. All proceeds go to Barrington Tap-In. In addition to seeing beautiful artwork created by our students, attendees will also be able to listen to the music performed by our band and chorus students. The BMS Empty Bowls Event/Concert will replace our One Amazing Night event.
One Amazing Night- Postponed until Next Year Over the past few weeks, The Rhode Island Department of Health elevated our community to a COVID “high-risk” level. Last week we were in the final planning stages of the event and needed to make the difficult decision to postpone the event until next year based on the restrictions that we needed to follow as One Amazing Night is predominantly inside event/experience. Instead of One Amazing Night, we are replacing the event with the BMS Empty Bowls/Student Concert from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Note:

Lending Library: Razz cluster has been recently awarded a BEF grant for the purpose of building a miniature lending library that will be located right near the entrance to BMS. Students can borrow these books or choose to take and leave a book. This idea encourages students during the school year to utilize the resources at their fingertips, as well as during the summer months to maintain, expand, and improve their reading levels and their reading interests. We are looking for donations of new and gently used books to fill the shelves. Please consider donating to this worthy cause. Books can be dropped off to Mrs. Bento's room 1205. Please drop off books by June 6th. Thank you so much. Razz Cluster
