What is New at BMS!

(note: the following information is new)

Advisory:

This week, we began our new advisory program for the 2022 - 2023 school year. Our students were placed by grade level in small groups of 10 - 12 students with an advisor.

BMS Advisory is a school-wide program focused on building relationships amongst/with students and expanding their networks of trusted adults.

Students will meet with their advisory groups twice a month on Mondays from 10:20 am to 10:40 am.

Parent Learning Walk:

Dr. Anderson will be hosting several “Family Learning Walks” throughout the year to provide an opportunity for families to see Project Based Learning in action and to get a glimpse of the life of a BMS student. Our first visit is scheduled for Monday, October 17, 2022. Register for this and other Parent Learning Walk dates on this form.  We will need to limit it to 20 parents, and it will be a first come, first served basis. Please note, this visit is not to your child’s classroom, but rather to see teaching and learning happening throughout the school.

Canvas/Aspen Family Information:

Last week, during our Open House, we hosted a Canvas/Aspen Family Information Session that was well attended. Below you will find the information reviewed that evening. The links will bring you to useful information to learn more about these informative tools.

BMS Yearbook - 8th Grade Baby Pictures:

It’s tradition!  See how much the 8th graders have grown! Each year we have pages in the yearbook dedicated to 8th grade baby/toddler pictures and it’s always fun to see how far they’ve come.  Please complete this form and upload your child's baby/toddler photo directly. To avoid confusion, please ensure only one photo is uploaded per student.

PLEASE NOTE: You need to be signed into your or your child's gmail account. If not, you will not be able to upload the photo.

CoffeePond Picture Day Follow-up:

Picture Day on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 went very smoothly.  Picture packages are expected to be delivered to BMS in about 4 to 6 weeks.  Picture retake day will be on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 if you'd like to have your student's picture redone (or if they were absent on September 28).  Please send in your picture package with your student on that day.

If you have any questions about ordering, reordering or just in general, please contact CoffeePond directly at 800-632-2323, extension 0 or email lifeguards@coffeepond.com.  We cannot accept paper orders in school any longer but it is not too late to order.  Contact CoffeePond at the numbers above.

PTO Corner:

Welcome to the new school year from the BMS PTO! We are excited for the new year and a return to many of the events and activities that have been missed over the past couple of years. Here are a few PTO updates to start off the year:

  • Join the PTO: Become a member of the BMS PTO for $20 through our BMS online store. Proceeds go directly to the school and PTO programs and membership is required to vote at PTO meetings.

  • Volunteers needed: We are in great need of volunteers for the board (President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary) and committees (Book Fair, Hospitality, Fundraising, One Amazing Night, Variety Show, 8th Grade Celebration). Please email barringtonmiddlepto@gmail.com if interested or with any questions with no pressure to commit.

Let’s Celebrate our Amazing Learning Community

(note: below you will find our standing/weekly BMS Spotlight on Learning)

BMS Spotlight on Learning:

This week, we would like to shine our BMS spotlight on Kyle, Christain Smith, and Lucas Enos for DJing our first Sports Night of the year! Thank you for providing the music and getting the students to dance!

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on the Making a Difference Squad for their Kindness Gram campaign. The M.A.D. Squad raised nearly 400.00 in Kindness Grams and all proceeds will be going to an organization that supports suicide prevention. Each month, the money raised from the Kindness Grams will go to a local charity. Great work M.A.D Squad Students and Teachers!

This week, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on our Allied Art teachers! Thank you for sharing your talents and passion. Thank you for creating an environment where students can make connections, create, and explore. The BMS Learning Community is lucky to have such amazing teachers! A few of them are found below sharing their school spirit!

Do you know of a BMS Faculty/Staff/Student member that is shining bright? If you do, please complete the form below and we can include the nomination in an upcoming newsletter.
