Sports Night:

As referenced above, this Friday, February 10, 2023, we will be having a Sports Night. This will be an event for all grades (6th, 7th, and 8th). Below is important information to review to ensure a safe and fun event for all students. We will also be reviewing this with our students this week.

Sports Nights:

Throughout the year we continue to hope to have Sports Night. Please see the helpful hints below. Looking forward to a fun evening!

What are Sports Nights?

  • Sports Nights are opportunities for students to socialize outside of school hours.

  • A DJ provides music in the student union and the large gymnasium is open for basketball and other games. Proceeds from ticket sales and snack sales go to the student council and clubs/clusters.

  • Sports Nights are chaperoned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, Teachers, and Staff.

What are Sports Nights Procedures/Expectations:

  • Only BMS students may attend.

  • Students need to be present all day during the day of a Sports Night to attend.

  • Tickets are $5 at the door. It is helpful for students to have exact change.

  • Students may bring additional money for snacks.

  • Drop off: Front loop or side parking lot; not before 6:50pm.

  • Pick up: Students are dismissed at 9:00pm. Parents may pick up in the front loop or side of the building.

  • Cell phone rules: No cell phone use in Sports Night. If students need to make a call, please have your child see one of the chaperones.

  • If for some reason a student needs to leave early, the student may only be picked up by his/her parent. Students will not be able to go home early from a sports night from another parent.

BMS Spotlight on Learning

Let’s Celebrate our Amazing Learning Community!

(note: below you will find our standing/weekly BMS Spotlight on Learning)

This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on all of the students, teachers, and staff who made our first-ever Unified Theater event such an amazing experience for all who participated and watched. Kindness and inclusivity was on display in a major way! In particular, we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Melinda Germano for bringing this program to BMS! We would also like to shine our BMS Spotlight on the many individuals who either helped out with practice, planning and/or supporting the actual event. Thank you to Stacy Lema, Kathryn Smith, Becky Trahan, Abby Halnon, Manny Canario, Katherine Ford, Brian Fernandes, Dawn Marcello, Lynn Vargas, Ann Piper, Kellyn McLaughlin, Jen Gladney, Connie Oswald, Denise Andreozzi, Barbara Nozaki, Maisey Morey, and parents Nicole Mandel and Carrie Kelly. As the saying goes, it takes a village! Your expertise and support certainly did not go unnoticed.

This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Kathryn Smith. Ms. Smith is dedicated and committed to supporting all of her students in the Life Skills program, as well as their success in our M.A.D Squad Program. Thank Kathryn for all that you do!

This week we would like to shine our BMS Spotlight on Coach Topazio and our BMS Basketball Team for making it to the semi-finals. Although they lost in overtime, the players never gave up and never lost faith in one another. We would also like to thank Denise Andreozzi, Barbara Nozaki, Randi Hines, Jenn Armstrong, and Maddy Crowell for supporting our BMS Fan Bus during the game.

Do you know of a BMS Faculty/Staff/Student member that is shining bright? If you do, please complete the form below and we can include the nomination in an upcoming newsletter.
