💌HAMPDEN MEADOWS CREATES KINDNESS CHAIN:
As our district celebrated A Day Without Hate, Hampden Meadows Elementary School students created a kindness chain representing recent acts of kindness by students and staff. The kindness chain was more than 170 feet long! Students presented the chain to all members of the HMS community at this week's Community Meeting.

💙💛BPS CELEBRATES A DAY WITHOUT HATE:
We're all in this together! Barrington High School's Chain Reaction club recently organized a district-wide celebration of A Day Without Hate to encourage all members of our Barrington community to commit to unity, mutual respect, and nonviolence.
Our students, staff, and families created peace posters for display in each of our schools as a visible reminder that kindness is a cornerstone of our community and BPS does not tolerate violence or hate. 🐝
Special thank you to BHS artist, Keta, for designing this year's BHS mural! The mural was divided into 60 square pieces and each advisory painted a square together.

📚📜BPS STUDENTS EXCEL AT RI HISTORY DAY:
With the support and guidance of faculty advisors, students across our district have been preparing since October for the Rhode Island History Day Contest. Over the weekend, 12 students from Barrington Middle School and Barrington High School showcased research projects related to this year's theme, Frontiers in History.
Great work, Harry, Cole, Estrella, Liam, Vishnu, Ananth, Ela, Samuel, Mia, Morgan, Jane, Sadie, and Jackson! Special congratulations to Samuel, Mia Morgan, Jane, and Sadie, whose projects qualified for participation in the National History Day contest at the University of Maryland in June.
🧬🔬BMS SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM PLACES THIRD AT STATE COMPETITION:
Congratulations to the Barrington Middle School Science Olympiad team for placing third at the Rhode Island Science Olympiad Tournament this month!
As a team, they brought home 5 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals for an overall third place finish at the state competition.

⚓️HOPE CLUB HELPS STUDENTS MAKE HEALTHY CHOICES:
Members of the HOPE Club at Barrington High School work hard to live the club's mission of HOPE: helping ourselves protect each other.
HOPE Club peer educators recently shared important information about the harmful effects of vaping with students at BHS.
🚗🔧BHS STUDENTS LEARN EMERGENCY VEHICLE SAFETY:
Motor vehicle safety and maintenance skills are necessary for drivers of all ages. Recently, students at Barrington High School took part in an automotive emergency training session with our BHS School Resource Officer, Officer Joel, and automotive services technicians from AAA Northeast!
They learned about changing tires, charging vehicle batteries, conducting fluid and tire checks, and replacing windshield wipers and had the opportunity to apply their learning in a real-world environment.
Thank you Officer Joel, the Barrington Police Department, and AAA Northeast for providing this important hands-on experience for our young drivers!
👩🏫📖RIDE COMMISSIONER VISITS SOWAMS SCHOOL:
Mrs. Adamson's class had a special visitor this morning: Rhode Island Department of Education Commissioner Infante-Green!
Commissioner Infante-Green read Kobi Yamada's book, What Do You Do With an Idea?, with our inquisitive third graders. It was a fantastic morning at Sowams School!
🦠🔬BHS SCIENCE OLYMPIAD TEAM IS #1 IN RI:
Congratulations to the Barrington High School Science Olympiad team for winning first place in the Rhode Island Science Olympiad Tournament for the fourteenth year in a row!
This state championship win qualifies BHS students to compete in next month's Science Olympiad National Tournament in Michigan.

It was a beautiful day in Barrington for a solar eclipse! 🌘
Yesterday afternoon, students and staff across our district gathered outside wearing special protective glasses to watch the moon cover the sun.

Deeper learning takes place daily inside classrooms across our district.
Recently, Barrington Middle School students in STEAM Studio class used 3D design to create an assistive rowing device for a schoolmate!

📒💡BHS STUDENTS PREPARE FOR AP EXAMS:
It's almost AP season at Barrington High School and our students are hard at work preparing for their upcoming exams!
Yesterday, more than 100 BHS students took Advanced Placement practice tests in biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science. 🧠
🧬🧫BPS STUDENTS SHINE AT RI SCIENCE FAIR:
Earlier this month, students from Barrington High School and Barrington Middle School presented at the Rhode Island Science and Engineering Fair (RISEF). Many of our students were recognized at the RISEF Awards Ceremony!
BHS junior, Isabelle, received Best in Fair First Grant for her project, "Jumping Genes: A potential molecular target for Alzheimer's disease intervention". Isabelle will be one of two students representing Rhode Island at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles, California, next month!
BHS students Siddharth, Sara, and Katherine also received Best in Fair First Grant awards (top ten projects at the fair) for their projects; Julia, Iris, Rahul, Emma, and Athena received First Grant awards; and Malak, Alexandra, Jason, and Onson received Third Grant awards.
In the Junior Division, BMS students Cameron, Calvin, and Afraz received Second Grant awards and Tobey received a Third Grant award.
