March was a very exciting and eventful month for Barrington Public Schools! As a month of new beginnings, March marked our transition into a new season and a new trimester - the final trimester of the school year.
As we leave March behind, I would like to share with you some noteworthy accomplishments that reflect our district’s commitment to cultivating curiosity, collaboration, and creativity.
Young scientists in our secondary schools presented at the RI Science and Engineering Fair (RISEF) earlier this month. Our students put a lot of hard work and effort into their research projects. Many BHS and BMS students received RISEF awards, including one BHS student who will represent Rhode Island at the International Science and Engineering Fair in California next month!
Barrington Middle School became the first Heart Safe Certified middle school in Rhode Island through Project ADAM. BMS now has a rapid response team of educators, administrators, and staff trained to respond to any cardiac emergency in the school!

Combining the spirit of the Izzy Foundation and social emotional learning, they created “Izspiring” pillows for children at Hasbro and collected donations of puzzles, games, and toys.
Talented student authors across our district earned recognition for their writing in March. Five BHS students earned notable mentions in Write Rhode Island’s state-wide short story contest and one third grader’s poem was selected for inclusion in the Rhode Island KIDS COUNT Factbook!
