superintendent update: june 17, 2024

It’s hard to believe that the end of another school year is upon us! Barrington Public Schools has had an incredible 2023-2024 school year, thanks to the support from our community and the hard work of our students, educators, staff, and administrators. Your collective dedication to our mission of empowering all students to do and be their best makes excellence possible for our entire district.

The conclusion of the school year offers us an opportunity to reflect, to celebrate our achievements, and to look forward with excitement for new beginnings. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the faculty, staff, students, and families of our Barrington Public Schools for 25 years and I am filled with a deep sense of pride and gratitude for what our district has accomplished together. As I prepare for retirement and reflect on more than two decades in Barrington’s public schools, including the last 12 years as superintendent, I am keenly aware that Barrington Public Schools is much more than just a place of teaching and learning. Working together, our unique and vibrant BPS community ensures that every student in our district has an opportunity to establish an academic foundation that prepares them for future success, build supportive connections with faculty and staff, forge lifelong friendships, and explore their interests and passions.

We are marking the last day of the 2023-2024 school year with an abundance of achievements and accomplishments to celebrate:

With our sights set on the new school year, I look forward to seeing all that is in store for our students, educators, and district. During the summer, as Barrington welcomes Mr. Wargo as superintendent, I am hopeful that BPS will continue to build upon the rich traditions of academic excellence and community care that make our district such a special place. With this foundation, I have no doubt that our students will, like me, always be proud to call Barrington their hometown and always be proud to call themselves a Barrington Eagle.

It has been a pleasure to work alongside each of you and to lead such a spirited and dynamic district as Barrington Public Schools. This year, and every year, I have been inspired by our remarkable students, educators, and staff, and by our families and community whose partnership is a cornerstone of our students’ learning, development, and success.

Wishing you a wonderful summer and continued success in the years to come,

Mike
