Barrington School Committee and Barrington Town Council Mark Unanimous Vote on Bond Resolution
Barrington, RI - At the May 8, 2023, joint meeting of the Barrington School Committee and the Barrington Town Council, the Town Council voted unanimously to forward an amended Bond Resolution with a new not-to-exceed amount of $250,000,000 to fund school construction to the Rhode Island State Legislature by May 18, 2023.
Barrington, along with more than 20 other communities across Rhode Island, is seeking to take advantage of school construction incentives being offered by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE). This endorsement enables the Stage II phase of the school construction process to continue through the spring and summer as the Barrington School Building Committee and Barrington Public Schools work toward defining a construction plan for approval by Barrington voters at a special election this fall.
The Barrington School Committee and Barrington Public Schools are pleased that the process is moving forward and express sincere gratitude to Barrington residents for their continued support as we seek to ensure our District’s school facilities meet the educational and extracurricular needs of our students, educators, and broader community.
